Thinking About Iceland:

Being home right now during this pandemic, like many of my fellow travelers with trips on hold along with many other things. I’ve started thinking about places I’ve been and things I’d like to do if I could visit again. I’ve dreamed of returning to Iceland again from the moment I left, Iceland has been popping up everywhere ans it’s inspired me to do a blog post about my time there.

I watched a quirky movie a few weeks ago on Netflix called War on Everyone. This movie starts off in the U.S. but the characters end up in Iceland. Seeing the landscape again brought up so many memories for me. I started looking for YouTube videos about Iceland. During my quest for videos on Iceland I found the page All Things Iceland. This is a channel by a young woman from the U.S. living in Iceland with her husband. She shares a unique perspective living in Iceland as a black woman. She also talks about interesting things I wouldn’t have thought about as a tourist just visiting. Here’s a link to her page. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCacXXvaNHJQhMYU7f77OrBA

It’s as cold as it looks!

A Trip to Remember:

Thinking about my trip I have to bring up cost. I won’t lie, Iceland is one of the most expensive places I’ve ever visited. It was cheap getting there, even the hostel was a good price. But arriving there, you have to be prepared to spend money. From food to transportation if you plan on spending at least a week in Iceland be prepared to have your bank account take a hit.

I can say as someone who has yearned to return every time I pass through on a layover. This island is worth every cent you will spend there. I have never been on a trip that wasn’t worth the money. And I do not regret visiting Iceland. Visiting the usual tourist spots like the Blue Lagoon and the South Coast of the island will vary in expense depending on what you want to see and do. Check out the link below for my Blue Lagoon experience during my last trip and how much it cost me. https://www.kjaroundtheworld.com/a-review-of-icelands-blue-lagoon/

Why I Can’t Wait to Return:

I’m ready to return. If I could do it next year I would. This time I want to visit Reykjavik and really enjoy the night life and local food. But I really want to return to visit the northern part of the island. My next trip to Iceland will be an adventure trip. I’m looking forward to spending more time in nature. Drinking from more waterfalls and spending more time looking up at the stars.

Have you visited Iceland? Share your experience in the comment section below. If you went to Iceland and wasn’t impressed share that too.

Nothing feels better than being immersed in nature!
