Vacation Preparations:

I love to travel so packing has become an art form to me. I never check bags when I fly so I make it my business to travel light every time I visit a new country. Packing light though does take a lot of preparation and time. Although it usually takes me 1-2 hours to pack. The preparations are usually started weeks in advance. I usually begin with toiletries, then work my way to shoes. From there I choose the things I want to wear then look at the airlines policy for luggage size. There are several essentials I usually bring that have never failed me. These items include my black ballet flats and a striped tee. It’s important to prepare by packing for your destination, but you also need to have your flight wear prepped as well. Airplanes are usually cold, so I layer up and wear a sweater over my clothes. My ballet flats work for airplane travel because they slip on and off easily when it’s time to go through TSA check points.

I’ve put together the list below with several items I’ve packed for the trip.  And Pinterest inspirations perfect for your next Italian vacation.

Pinspirations:

Pinterest has definitely been useful in my planning process, helping me to find inspiration that fits my personality. Here are some links from Pinterest that have helped me prepare for my Italian vacation.

Where They’ll Fit:

The Perfect Hat:

I’m not one for fedoras but this one hit the nail on the head for me. It’s not only fashionable but will certainly block the sun from my face. Especially helpful if you’re traveling in the summer months.

Fashion Forward:

Dress to impress when you go to Italy. If you done want to be spotted as “the tourist” I suggest you leave the yoga pants and tank tops at home. If you’re traveling in spring or fall a nice trench would do the trick. I find dressing for the summer to be a lot more difficult than any other time of the year. So I nice day to night dress or a neutral skirt will make you stand out for all the right reasons.

Comfortable Shoes:

I try to limit the amount of shoes I travel with because honestly, they take up so much space it’s not worth it. This time around I decided to add two more pairs to the group. Make sure you pack comfortable shoes. Although public transportation is reliable, you’ll be doing a lot of walking in Italy, so even if you wear shoes with some height try wedge espadrilles instead of stiletto heels.
