This past year I’ve been able to experience so many travel goals I dreamed about and others I never even thought were on my radar. For me, reflecting on where I’ve been and what I did this past year encourages me to continue inspiring women who dream of traveling the world, but don’t know where to begin. If being able to travel more is part of your 2024 travel resolutions, I’ve got some goal setting strategies for you.

Where I’ve Been:

This past year I’ve had the opportunity to travel to Europe for the first time since early 2022. I started the year off heading stateside to Ohio, having an unexpected experience in the city of Columbus. Then heading to Antigua and Barbuda to enjoy the island vibes. Good food and even more good beach vibes. Then I had the pleasure of visiting Finland and Estonia in June, connecting with amazing women and educators from all over the world. My final trip of the year was an amazing roundtrip with my kids to Quebec City. Not our usual summer location, but it was a wonderful treat and getaway for the kids before the start of school. I ended the year on a high note heading to New York City and doing my usual routine of Holiday Markets and afternoon tea.

Where I Want to Be:

The upcoming year has me filled with so much excitement and anticipation. From my upcoming trip to Mexico with Women’s Travel Fest to heading back to Europe for some slow travel. I’ve always wanted to spend long-term time in Europe, going to different cities on day trips as well as country hopping on the weekends using the train. 2024 is the year of making my travel dreams come true, but the only way for me to accomplish this is to set goals and start planning now.

Setting Goals for 2024:

Setting goals for 2024 can seem like a daunting process, but if you plan ahead and set measurable goals it is easy to accomplish the things you want. For me, I started planning my 2024 travel back in October. I know what you’re thinking, who plans so far ahead? Me! I believe in planning ahead as it helps you to secure the money you need to travel as well as book flights and accommodations without feeling pressured close to your departure dates.

How to Get There:

Setting goals for the year works better when you know why you’re setting the goals for yourself. If you want to travel more in 2024, ask yourself why. Is it social media? Are you trying to tick boxes? What makes you want to set these goals? Travel is expensive and if you’re going to engage in life-changing experiences let it be something that is meaningful for you. Follow this up with checking your finances. Where are you with your financial goals and travel fund? Have you saved enough? Will it be helpful to save some more? Then move on to planning your trip. When do you want to go? High season or low season. Will you be traveling solo or with family and friends? Sit down and plan accordingly. These are the things that will help you to get started with your 2024 travel resolutions.
