Staying Home This Year:

Staying home this year for the holidays has not been easy. I wake up daily thankful we’ve all been safe and healthy in my family, but feel as if there is something missing. Every year my family and I go to NYC for the holiday festivities. From Rockefeller Center to Bryant Park, we walk down the street with our hot chocolates and smiles. But this year we’re not heading to NYC and it has not been an easy decision for me to make. The pandemic has certainly turned our holiday routine upside down, but in all honesty there is nothing else I’d rather do than stay home in 2020 and keep my children safe.

What We Will Miss:

We’re missing so much this year, like our times at Bryant Park, enjoying the holiday markets we love so well this time of year. Traveling during the holidays is something many families do each year and we’re no different. As a family we miss our usual trips to Washington D.C. and New York City. There’s always something amazing to see and do during the holiday season and right now all we can do is look back at our memories until things change with the pandemic.

What We’re Doing Instead:

Staying home for the holidays is something we have not done since the children were babies. We’ve spent two holidays in Washington D.C. and many more visiting NYC and enjoying all of the magic it has to offer. This year we’ve spent our time being together as a family. Making family dinners, eating warm cookies and drinking hot chocolate. From decorating our tree to watching holiday movies, we’ve spent time together being thankful for our family and our health.

Looking Forward to the Future:

Looking forward to the future we’re hoping things will change with a vaccine on the horizon. My family and I miss travel. We’re hoping to have the opportunity to travel safely in 2021. I personally cannot wait to get on a plane. Even if we’re required to wear masks, I am ready to pack my bags, get on a plane and head to a beautiful island or a cobbled-stone street somewhere overseas.

Here’s to 2021 with all of its uncertainly but opportunities for hope.
