Getting Ready for Your Flight to Spain:

Planning a trip to Spain in 2022 requires some heavy planning. It’s important to consider the language difference you will encounter if you don’t speak Spanish or Catalan. As we were heading to Barcelona we were required to have a Spanish Health Control form completed 2-3 days before our departure. We were also required to have a digital Certificate to verify our vaccination status. This digital QR code will be required when you arrive at the airport. The airport personnel will verify this as well as your vaccination status.

Masks were required on the flight and around Barcelona. I have to say most of the people I encountered on the bus or the train were wearing masks.

Planning Your Return to the USA:

As with any country you visit and need to return to the USA you must be tested before returning home. An Antigen or PCR test is required at least a day before the departure of your flight. For peace of mind and efficiency, we completed our tests at the airport the day before leaving. The process was easy as long as you booked the appointment in advance. The Antigen tests cost 30 Euros, you must check the airport testing site for the cost of each test.

Getting Around Barcelona:

If you want to get to the center of Barcelona from the airport, this can be done in several ways. There is a bus that can take you to Placa Catalunya or Placa Espanya. From there you can take the subway to your destination. The best way to get around is to purchase an unlimited Hola Barcelona Travel Card at the airport for the amount of days you will be visiting (See the photo below). Be aware the Aerobus does not take the Hola Barcelona Travel Card. You will have to pay a separate fee of 5.90 Euros on the bus or at the terminal. The bus takes cash, but they also take credit cards. You will be in good hands as long as you have a Master Card or Visa with you. Click here for more information to help you get around Barcelona.
