Want to Launch Your Blog Today?

Step 1. Create a blog (domain) name.

Start by thinking of what your blog will be about. What are your hobbies and interest? Think of a unique way you want people to recognize you on the internet. Now, check below to see if your website name is available.

Step 2. Sign-up for an easy blogging software.

I find WordPress to be more user-friendly than any other platform. You can customize your page using free tools and widgets. Creating the ideal blog to highlight your content, products and photos. As a newbie you’ll also need web hosting. I currently use BlueHost, it’s easy to use and budget-friendly for new bloggers.  Keep in mind if you choose not to self-host you will not have a unique domain name, but instead a free alternative like ex. yourblogname.wordpress.com.

Step 3. Design your blog and create great content.

You can use the many resources of WordPress.com, like design themes to create the blog of your dreams. These themes are very easy to use, but if you’re willing to spend $50-$150, WordPress will make your blog design look just like the demo.  I started out with a free one, but was lucky enough a few months ago to get a new updated theme. The new theme was perfect for my food and travel niche, but also compatible with mobile.

You’re almost there…..

Step 4. Take advantage of online resources.

I wish I took advantage of Facebook Groups in the beginning when I launched by blog last year. Joining several Facebook Groups that share my interests in food and travel has helped me to develop into a pretty savvy blogger. It also helps that it’s been a great way to promote my blog and increase blog traffic. Make connections early on with other bloggers, maybe even attend blogger events.

Step 5. Create a social media account.

Telling you social media hasn’t been essential to my blog would be a lie. Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have been great places to get exposure. Let’s be honest, we can all write the most amazing blog posts weekly, but if we have no way to promote it, we’re guaranteed to get lost in a sea of bloggers. Trust me there are thousands of us out there. So post, promote and engage daily.

You’re now ready to publish your blog!!!!!!

  1. I totally agree on the Facebook groups point, that is definitely good advice for new bloggers. My blog is still relatively new, and wouldn’t be the same without the groups.

    1. Glad it was helpful. When you’re starting a blog too much information might be overwhelming. I know it was for me. I try to post in a way that would have been beneficial to me starting out.

  2. I totally agree that I wish I joined Facebook groups in the beginning. That’s a really key thing to gaining traction on your blog. This is a great post. Thanks for sharing!
